IMDEA Materials Institute is a public research organization founded in 2007 by Madrid’s regional government to carry out research of excellence in Material Science and Engineering by attracting talent from all over world to work in an international and multidisciplinary environment. DESCRIPTION

The Composite Materials Group at IMDEA Materials, led by Drs. Carlos González and Cláudio S. Lopes, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow in the field of multiscale mechanics of composites.

The research will focus on experimental and computational micromechanics of unidirectional composites.

Candidates with strong background knowledge on computational damage mechanics, model development and numerical simulation methods for advanced composite materials are strongly encouraged to apply.

Experience in experimental mechanical testing of composites is highly valued.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will work in a vibrant multinational research group, composed of researchers, post-doctoral researchers and PhD students.

REQUIREMENTS

• PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline) with excellent academic credentials.
• Solid background in computational mechanics of composite materials.
• Ample experience with commercial FE software tools (Abaqus/LS-Dyna/etc.), including the development of user subroutines.
• Fluent English.
• Good social skills, teamwork spirit and proactive attitude.

CONDITIONS

Full time contract for up to 4 years including social security coverage.

Salary in the range 32-36k€/year (depending on previous experience and credentials).

The position will be open until the candidate is selected.
